EXTENDED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Extended learning opportunities are allowed per School Board policy and must be aligned with the High School’s educational goals and objectives. Such opportunities may provide credit or supplement regular academic courses. Credits can be granted for extended learning activities including independent study, internships, distance education, video-based, internet-based, on-line, or virtual, and other courses. Prior approval by the Principal and/or the Director of School Counseling is required. This policy does not exempt students from taking and completing core academic courses and requirements per Londonderry High School Program of Studies. Grades will be on a pass or fail basis. These grades will not be a part of the student’s grade point average.

AUDITING COURSES
Students interested in auditing a course must meet with the Director of School Counseling prior to the start of each semester. Auditing allows a student to enroll in a class, but not receive credit or a GPA grade. If auditing is approved and all course requirements are met, the course number and symbol AU will appear on the student’s transcript. Students must attend the class daily and must complete all assignments.

WITHDRAWAL FROM COURSES
Official withdrawal must be initiated through the appropriate School Counselor. Any approved withdrawal (not course level change) after the 10 school days of a full year or semester course will be indicated on the report card and transcript with a permanent grade. Each request for withdrawal will be considered on its own merit with regard to the educational needs of the student. A WP will be issued for a student who is passing and a WF will be issued for a student failing the class at the time of the withdrawal. The WF will equal 0.00 grade points and will be factored into the student’s cumulative grade point average. Any withdrawal request must have the final approval of the Director of School Counseling.

REPORTING STUDENT GRADES
Report cards are issued four times per year at the end of each marking quarter approximately in November, January, April, and June. Progress reports are issued to all students midway through each marking period approximately in October, December, March, and May.
