Course Description
This course is a study of American history beginning with pre-Colombian societies and early European contact up through present day. This course offers a fast-paced intensive coverage of the social, political, military and economic events and trends of American history. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses through the same types of assignments as those made by full-year introductory college courses. Students should learn to assess historical materials—their relevance to a given interpretive problem, reliability, and importance—and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented therein. There is heavy emphasis on the demonstration of critical and analytical thinking through writing and stress will be placed on student responsibility for work outside the class. NCAA Approved. |
