Course Description
Guitar/Piano Ensemble is a semester-long class aimed to provide a collaborative experience for students who have a very basic working knowledge of either guitar or piano. Music arrangements will include rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, rhythm & blues, electronic dance music, and other contemporary styles. The course is open to students who successfully completed the Basic Guitar course or Piano Fundamental course at LHS and/or are familiar with either music notation, guitar tablature, or chord symbols. Students who have not completed the guitar or piano course must set up a pre-observation meeting with the music instructor prior to the semester starting. This class is specifically designed for beginners, but more advanced players may be given supplemental materials. This ensemble will utilize (but is not limited to) the following musical instruments: electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass, ukulele, banjo, piano, voice, and technology(iPad, midi triggers, etc). Percussion instruments may also be used to enhance the ensemble experience. |
Prerequisites
LHS Guitar course, Piano Fundamental course, Jazz Intro Lab, Jazz Ensemble, or pre-observation meeting with the music instructor. |
