Course Description
Literacy for College and Careers is designed to encourage a life-long love of reading, as well as provide students an opportunity to strengthen their reading and study skills that are the foundation for success in all classes. The books read in this course contain current themes and issues that are interesting and relevant to young adults and the world around them today. Students will also be engaged with a variety of non-fiction texts and other sources of information, some of which are directly accessed from other required freshman courses such as Science, Social Studies and English. Students will learn to use reading strategies to help monitor comprehension, develop questions, make connections to the broader world and articulate their thinking about what they have learned. |
