Course Description
This course is designed for high school juniors and seniors who like to read, or want to enjoy reading, but are challenged to establish a reading habit that makes reading a daily part of their lives. Reading for pleasure is one of the most significant influences in the development of language skills, creativity, and academic achievement. Students looking ahead to college can prepare themselves for the rigor and stamina necessary for reading at that level by spending time with text now. In this course students will be self-selecting books that reflect their own interests and passions, and reflecting on their own thoughts and opinions, as well as those of peers through book group discussions. |
