Course Description
This is a hands-on, studio course where students will further develop their drawing skills with the addition of color concepts, through application of different drawing styles and more advanced techniques. A variety of materials such as graded value pencils, markers, colored pencils, pen & ink, colored inks, charcoal, color pastels, etc. will be explored. Students will continue to practice good composition, while drawing from direct observation of objects as well as their imagination. Topics for exploration include various fabrics in the drapery still life, reflective surfaces in the shiny object still life and different textures such as fur in the pen and ink unit. Face proportions and feature development for portrait drawing will be revisited, with color theory and pastels applied.
